The Practice operates an on the day GP appointment system.  When contacting the Practice for an appointment you will be asked by our Receptionist the nature of the appointment.  The reason for this being many people request to be seen by a GP when the appointment would be best placed with another Health Care Professional, or may not require a face to face GP appointment.  For this reason it is necessary that our Receptionists ask some questions surrounding the nature of your appointment request.  Appointments will be given out in time order to facilitate the volume of requests.  If you would prefer a specific GP, the availability of the requested GP will be assessed on a daily basis.  You may be advised to call back on a different day if your request cannot be met.  If the demand for appointments is particularly high on the day, we may need to revert to emergency only appointments.  In this case you will be asked to call back the following day if your need is not a medical emergency.  Requests for a specific GP cannot be granted in the case of an emergency appointment.  If you are requested by the GP to return for a follow up appointment, this can be booked in advance and you will be given a request slip by the GP to give to the Receptionist to book this appointment.  In addition we hold extended hours surgeries one evening per week covered by two of our GPs, these appointments can be booked in advance.  The Practice also have two highly skilled Advanced Nurse Practitioners who have a mixture of bookable and on the day appointments.

As you can see our appointment book at Path House Medical Practice is extensive and our Reception Team are here to advise on the correct pathway to meet your needs.

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.  This can also be done when the Practice is closed by leaving a message on our answering machine.
